Once the date, location, and cost of a trip or activity are finalized, WeatherPromise provides a customized offer. After purchase, WeatherPromise automatically monitors the weather during your trip or activity. If conditions exceed the terms of the offer, a payout notification is automatically initiated without requiring paperwork. It’s that simple.
How can I purchase a WeatherPromise?
A WeatherPromise can be purchased in three key ways:
- On the confirmation page of your flight + hotel package.
- In your flight + hotel package confirmation email.
- Within the "Manage Your Booking" section for a flight + hotel package.
Please note, eligibility is limited to flights departing from airports within the U.S. or U.S. territories.
What factors affect pricing of a WeatherPromise?
Pricing is influenced by historical data for the specific location and season. Thresholds for coverage are then determined to create the optimal balance of price, triggers, and overall experience for the trip or activity. For example, to make weather guarantees more affordable, a WeatherPromise might cover days with more than two hours of rain rather than days with any rain at all. Each WeatherPromise is uniquely tailored.
Where does WeatherPromise source weather data?
Weather data is sourced from leading government organizations in the U.S., Europe and Japan, including NASA, NOAA, ECMWF, DWD and JAXA—and is further supplemented with privately sourced data.
How accurate is the weather data WeatherPromise collects?
WeatherPromise ensures exceptional accuracy by monitoring thousands of weather stations, radars, and satellites 24 hours a day. By combining this vast array of data, they achieve a high level of accuracy. Globally, their weather data is pinpointed to an average resolution of less than 4 km, with even greater accuracy in the U.S. and Europe.

Each WeatherPromise is unique. Look at your specific contract for the details of your personal WeatherPromise. WeatherPromise spells out in your confirmation which government data source they are using to track the rainfall. This ensures that payouts are made under transparent and clear conditions. Easily track the status of your WeatherPromise payout by visiting your personal WeatherPromise dashboard using the link in your confirmation email. Any payouts initiated based on weather data exceeding your coverage criteria will be communicated via email notification. Payouts are typically processed within a few days after your trip ends. If you haven't received your payout after you were notified one is coming, please contact the WeatherPromise team members by replying to your confirmation email.
You can cancel your WeatherPromise within 72 hours of purchase. Just reply to your WeatherPromise confirmation email with your request to cancel and the WeatherPromise team will issue you a refund. Please refer to your WeatherPromise contract for more details.
If the entire trip is cancelled for a full refund pursuant to the terms and conditions applicable to your trip, your WeatherPromise will be cancelled and refunded automatically.

The definition of a rainy day is customized for each WeatherPromise and described before you purchase and in your confirmation email. Usually, WeatherPromise defines a rainy day based on a number of hours of rain above a certain intensity (e.g., 1 millimeter of rain per hour). It can be different for different trips, activities and locations.
WeatherPromise measures a day based on the local time at your destination.
