Though the city of Syracuse is primarily known for the Erie Canal Museum, the downtown area, known as Armory Square, is also home to a variety of lively experiences. Just a block away from the Museum of Science and Technology, the Landmark Theater Syracuse still hosts shows and events. The theatrical venue is one of few left standing from the era of movie palaces built in the 1920s. Less than a 10-minute drive from the downtown area, you can also find the Syracuse Zoo (or Rosamond Gifford Zoo).
