Things to do in Richmond

Outdoor Activities
Visitors can head to the James River to kayak, whitewater raft, paddle board and so much more. Richmond boasts the nation’s only class III and IV urban rapids that run right through the city’s downtown. The region also has a rich biking culture; bike rentals are readily available for taking on the 52-mile Virginia Capital Trail, Belle Isle and Pocahontas State Park. For hikers, there are acres of woods and wildlife in the region’s state parks, and for walkers, there are plenty of outdoor tours of street art, historic sites and culinary spots.
