Things to do in Reno/Tahoe

Reno Casinos
Known as the "Vegas before Vegas," Reno was formerly known as the gaming capital of the world, attracting visitors from around the world to its many casinos. Today, many of the area's other activities are what make Reno and Lake Tahoe famous, but there are still a number of casinos worth trying your luck at. Some of our favorite casino hotels in Reno are Peppermill Resort Spa and Casino and Atlantis Casino Resort Spa.

Lake Tahoe & the Sierra Nevada Mountains
The Reno/Lake Tahoe area boasts the highest concentration of ski resorts in North America, with more than 18 alpine and cross-country resorts less than 90 minutes from the airport. Due to its unique micro-climates, the Tahoe-area ski resorts receive between 300 and 500 inches of snow a year, while Reno enjoys a much more moderate climate with significantly less snow. Even if you don't want to ski for the entirety of your trip, many other activities, including snow shoeing and dog sledding are available at ski resorts. One of our favorite resorts is the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Spa and Casino.
