Things to do in Boston
Boston Red Sox, Celtics and Bruins
Looking for a way to start your Boston trip with a win? As the official airline sponsor for Boston’s four major sports teams including the Boston Celtics, Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins and New England Patriots—we know that the best way to take your Boston trip up a notch is with some sports history in the making. Home to the legendary Boston Red Sox, Fenway Park remains the oldest baseball stadium in the MLB, built in 1912. There are usually plenty of home games in the spring and summer, making for perfect weather to enjoy one of America’s favorite pastimes. On the opposite side of town, TD Garden is home to both the Boston Celtics of the NBA and the Boston Bruins of the NHL. If you’re a basketball or a hockey fan, you can catch a Bruins or Celtics game if you come during the NBA or NHL regular season, which are both usually October through April.
Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts
Don’t forget to add some color to your itinerary at one of the country's largest museums, Boston's Museum of Fine Arts (MFA) is renowned for its collection of artifacts from ancient Egypt including sculptures, sarcophagi and jewelry. MFA also boasts the largest museum collection of Japanese works outside of Japan. Other collections include works from French impressionists including Paul Gauguin, Renoir, Degas and Monet and significant pieces from 18th and 19th century American art. The treasures of the MFA are not limited to the galleries—they also have three excellent restaurants.
Boston Common
There’s nothing common about the oldest city park in the U.S.—Boston Common once hosted British troops during the American Revolution and is now a 50-acre park. It also serves as a great starting point for The Freedom Trail, a 2.5-mile-long path that travels through downtown Boston to the Bunker Hill Monument in Charlestown. The path passes 16 significant locations to U.S. history.
Boston Duck Tours
Cruise by all the places that make Boston the birthplace of freedom with Boston Duck Tours. Board your "duck," an authentic, renovated World War II amphibious landing vehicle, and drive off to see the golden-domed State House, the Fleet Center, Boston Common, Copley Square, Government Center, Newbury Street and more. To top it off, the conductor splashes your duck right into the Charles River for a spectacular view of the Boston and Cambridge skylines.
