Allianz Travel Protection is an insurance plan with award-winning assistance that can protect you and your budget from unexpected travel problems and emergencies. In most cases, this means providing reimbursement for covered financial losses after you file a claim and it has been approved. These losses can be minor, like a delayed suitcase, or significant, like a last-minute trip cancellation or a medical emergency overseas.
Allianz Travel Protection benefits basics
Allianz Travel Protection can protect you before and during your vacation—keeping you and your travel budget safe. Benefits vary by plan and these are brief descriptions. Please read your plan documents for details.
Reimburses your prepaid, non-refundable travel expenses if you need to cancel your trip due to a covered reason, which may include:
- A doctor says you or a traveling companion is too sick to fly
- Your parent or child requires hospitalization
- You have a traffic accident (does not include breakdowns or mechanical issues) on the way to the airport
- A storm shuts down your airport for 24 hours or more
- You need to attend the birth of a family member’s child
Reimburses the unused, non-refundable portion of your trip and additional transportation costs it takes for you to return home early or to continue your trip due to a covered reason, which may include:
- You get sick or injured and a doctor says you need to return home
- A family member gets injured and needs your care
- An emergency like a fire or flood makes your home uninhabitable
Reimburses expenses related to covered emergency medical or dental care incurred on your trip. Examples of covered emergencies may include:
- You slip and break your ankle while sightseeing
- You get food poisoning from eating bad sushi
- You lose a filling and require immediate dental treatment
Provides benefits for medically necessary transportation to the nearest appropriate medical facility following a covered injury or illness.
Provides reimbursement for certain eligible expenses like meals or accommodations due to a covered travel delay.
Provides reimbursement for lost, damaged, or stolen luggage and personal belongings.
Reimburses the reasonable additional purchase of essential items during your trip if you experience a covered baggage delay.

Review period
If you’re not completely satisfied, you have 15 days (or more, depending on your state of residence) to request a refund, provided you haven’t started your trip or initiated a claim. Premiums are non-refundable after this period.
